REGIONAL radio station Edge FM and its stations in Echuca, Deniliquin and Wangaratta have been sold to ACE Radio.
From November 1 the Paterson family-owned ACE Radio Broadcasters will become the major shareholders and operators of 2QN, Edge FM and 3NE.
The acquisition means ACE now operates a total of 17 regional radio stations (eight FM and nine AM) in Victoria and southern NSW and a newspaper in western Victoria.
The company employs more than 200 staff.
ACE also owns the Radio Training Institute in South Melbourne.
Roly Paterson, the group’s chairman, described the purchase as “it’s a great fit for our existing network”.
“It gives our national advertisers greater coverage and also allows further opportunities for the promotion of staff within our network,” he said.
“We are pleased to have the current major shareholder of North East Broadcasters and Rich River Radio, Dave Robertson, join ACE as its new 2QN/Edge FM general manager in Deniliquin.”
