IT IS time to dig out those high-waisted polka dot skirts and strap on those sideburns Echuca-Moama.

Because St Joseph’s College music department is taking you back to the 1950s for a night of rock ‘n’ roll on Wednesday, September 13.

Kicking off at 6.30pm at Rich River Golf Club Resort, the event promises to get your hips swinging and your toes tapping.

Music teacher Mal Dunstan said the students had put in the hard yards for the past few months.

‘‘This is a student-driven project and something all of them have been working really hard on,’’ he said.

‘‘The students have prepared an extensive 1950s rock ‘n’ roll song list which they will be playing on the night.’’

Mr Dunstan said it was also an opportunity to come dressed as your favourite ’50s rocker — think Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly and Chuck Berry, just to name a few.

‘‘We invite everyone to come dressed up to have a great time,’’ he said.

‘‘It is also an opportunity to celebrate our talented musicians.

‘‘It is open to the entire community and drinks will be available at bar prices.’’

Bistro meals will also be available before the event downstairs.

Entry is free.
